Da Vinci Code of the Month - CrossFit Home Gym

With an average entry-level cost of USD$20,000.00/€‎19,300.00/R342,500.00, running a CrossFit home gym has time and again been proven to provide a consistent income stream, as the market for gym goers always looking for endomorphic release rarely ever decreases in supply.

Your gym needs to be certified as a CrossFit Affiliate in order to have your gym members compete at the CrossFit games under your gym's branding. To start your small home CrossFit gym, there is no need to undergo the expensive process of legally affiliating with CrossFit. In future, however, should you wish to scale up, and perhaps, should you breed games athletes, there will be the necessity of legal affiliation that will arise.

As part of the affiliation process, you must fill out an application and write an essay about what CrossFit affiliation means to you, why you want it, and what you hope to achieve. For affiliation, you must possess at least a CrossFit Level 1 Certificate.

CROSSFIT TRAINING CERTIFICATE

CrossFit Level 1 teaches basic principles and movements of CrossFit. It is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their health and fitness through effective training and nutrition. A CrossFit Level 1 certification provides prospective coaches and gym owners with the foundational training needed to help others become fitter and healthier.

PROOF OF INSURANCE (U.S.-BASED AFFILIATES)

Insurance can be purchased from a variety of companies, but CrossFit encourages affiliates to use the CrossFit Risk Retention Group, which they believe offers the best insurance. CrossFit affiliates formed and run this insurance group.

For more detailed information on the RRG, please refer to the Insurance section of the Affiliation Requirements. It is not required that international affiliates submit proof of insurance, but we strongly recommend that they do.

COSTS

For affiliates in Australia, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the following European countries, affiliation license renewal costs US $3,000 annually. In Europe, affiliate licenses in certain countries are subject to the Dutch VAT rate of 21% unless the affiliate can provide a valid VAT number during the application process.

Equipment and inventory costs vary depending on the brand you choose to buy, but according to Home Advisor it can be an average of USD$15,000.00/14,400.00/R256,900.00 as a once-off investment, with minimal maintenance expenditure in the long run.

CRAFT AN IRONCLAD MARKETING PLAN

To be listed on the Affiliate Finder Map and Affiliate List, you must have a live website after you become affiliated. This is the primary way that CrossFit promotes registered affiliates world over. An Instagram page with all arousing teasers of your gym equipment and promotion of membership subscriptions is a natural follow up.

Much of the marketing will occur in your local community, so the old school flyers, radio ads, and perhaps even newspaper ads for some smaller towns, will be of great ROI.

NAMING AND BRANDING

As part of the application process, you must propose three affiliate names in order of preference. CrossFit will approve the first available name on that list. If none of the recommended names are available, their team will work with you to find a suitable alternative.

There can be no references to continents, countries, provinces, regions, states, counties, large cities, religious references, movie names, celebrity names, personal names, trademarked names, government agencies, or names that are already taken. All names must have the word "CrossFit" in them, with the capitalized "F" and with no space between the two words.
